Skin & Hair Disease

Skin & Hair Disease

The skin is an intricate piece of bodily mechanism that is intimately connected with the entire organism and hence diseases affecting it are directly connected with the rest of the body. We provide a deeper understanding about skin diseases which range from simple fungal infections to chronic conditions like acne, alopecia (baldness), eczema, lichen planus, molluscum contagiosum, psoriasis, urticaria and warts.

  • Acne - The clogging of skin pores with dead skin cells and oil causes pus swelling and pain around the area. Acne is common in teenagers due to hormonal changes but can also be seen in adults due to stress or food related allergies.
  • Alopecia - A non-scarring patchy baldness that affects the scalp as well as other areas of the body, alopecia can be auto-immune in origin or stress-induced.
  • Eczema - Circular irritated patches of skin, sometimes crusty and scaly on face and scalp is usually found in children, and can be caused due to allergies, local irritation, etc.
  • Lichen Planus - Non-contagious and itchy, lichen is characterised by thickened lesions.
  • Psoriasis - A skin condition that is auto-immune in nature, psoriasis is characterised by thickened, flaky, red patches with inflammation. Cause may be intense stress, hormonal changes which needs deeper, long term treatment.
  • Urticaria.
  • Warts.
